It all started a little bit hectic since our flight was delayed about an hour. What made it stressful was the fact that the luggage storage closed at 17 and we got our bags at 16.50. we had 10 minutes to assemble the bikes and change into our cycling clothes. An impossible task that we manage to pull off thanks to our charm and persuasion. The kind girl at the desk agreed to stay a bit longer.

After all that stress we were finally on our way. According to the map we had a 45 km trip to our Airbnb place. We were jetlagged, tired, had barely slept anything and we were hungry (due to the awful food from Norwegian). So we had to stop for something to eat on our way. We stopped at a gas station and bought a pizza slice, it felt like heaven!

Pizza stop.

With some food and a Gatorade we felt a little bit better but still really looking forward to arrive and have some sleep.

With just 4 km to go we we came to an open bridge. We waited for about half an hour for that damn bridge to close. It turned out that it was under construction so we had to bike all around just to get to the other side, an extra 15 km. It's not much but when you are tired and it's dark, it feels like twice as much.

But after getting lost a couple of times we came across Jesus, a local fixie guy who guided us around town to get in the right way again. It was a crazy ride between taxi cabs, avoiding fishermen, jumping over obstacles just like a CX race!

After a long day we finally arrived at Julio's place, our Airbnb host. First day accomplished, many existing days to come.
